Job Description
- Lead the expansion of the laboratory’s ISO 17025 scope to include chemical testing (wastewater, food & beverage matrices).
- Develop, validate, and implement chemical testing methods according to ISO 17025 requirements.
- Prepare, review, and maintain technical documents, SOPs, and quality records in compliance with ISO 17025.
- Train and mentor laboratory staff on chemical testing procedures and ISO 17025 standards.
- Coordinate and participate in internal and external audits, proficiency testing, and corrective actions.
- Oversee laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for Standards Malaysia (SAMM) and other accreditation bodies on all matters related to chemical testing.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and fit for purpose.
- Analyze and interpret chemical test results; ensure data integrity and traceability.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, and accreditation bodies as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a chemical testing laboratory, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Proven experience working in an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory (preferably with experience in expanding or maintaining accreditation scope).
- Hands-on experience with environmental (wastewater) and food & beverage sample matrices.
- Proficient in chemical analysis techniques and operation of relevant instrumentation (e.g., ICP-OES, IC, UV-Vis, HPLC, GC, AAS).
- Strong understanding of method validation, uncertainty measurement, and proficiency testing as required by ISO 17025.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and training skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage projects, and interact with accreditation bodies.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to laboratory quality and safety.
